Learn more here. Our Ideal Candidate Seichou Karate® is seeking a dedicated, dynamic Japanese Language Instructor to lead fun, engaging, age-appropriate classes for children and teens. Our goal is to enable students to pursue advanced Japanese language study in middle school, high school and college by giving them a solid foundation in spoken Japanese. Position Overview As a Japanese Language Instructor in our Seichou Juku program, you’ll teach children from 6 years of age and adults. Some of our students are beginners and others have a foundation in Japanese. We emphasize spoken Japanese. As such, Japanese grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and culture are paramount. We use our own text. We do not emphasize reading katakana, hiragana or kanji. Learn more here. Key Responsibilities · Prepare and deliver immersive Japanese lessons using role-play, structured practice, and dialogue-rich activities. · Introduce and teach the Japanese parts of speech, vocabulary and cultural nuances of the subject dialogue. · Assess students’ proficiency via interviews and written evaluations to assign appropriate class placement. · Help students grasp grammar and amass vocabulary through speaking. · Track progress, provide feedback, and foster a supportive, engaging learning atmosphere. Qualifications · Native or near-native Japanese speaker. · Strong English language communication skills. · Patient, enthusiastic, culturally sensitive, and committed to student success. · Experience teaching children, teens or adults is a plus. · All instructors at Seichou hold master’s degrees or higher levels of education. As such, a master’s degree is a plus. Schedule & Compensation This is a part-time, in-person position with flexible evening and weekend hours. Compensation is competitive and based on experience.
