Our Ideal Candidate

Seichou Karate® Dojo is seeking a dedicated, dynamic Japanese Abacus Instructor to lead engaging, age-appropriate classes for children and teens. Our abacus (soroban) program strengthens students’ math skills, focus, and confidence through traditional Japanese methods in a respectful, growth-oriented learning environment. Responsibilities

  • Teach weekly abacus classes to children (ages 6–12) and teens (ages 13–17)
  • Prepare and implement lesson plans in alignment with Seichou Juku’s holistic teaching philosophy
  • Encourage accuracy, perseverance, and enthusiasm in all students
  • Maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment
  • Communicate with parents and staff as needed regarding student progress

Requirements

  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Japanese is a plus
  • Experience with Japanese abacus instruction (minimum 1 year preferred)
  • Passion for teaching and mentoring youth
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. and ability to pass a background check

Schedule & Compensation
This is a part-time, in-person position with flexible evening and weekend hours. Compensation is competitive and based on experience.
